New Shoes (nano-fiction)

Jane walked unsteadily between the towering shelves in the shoe store, feeling intimidated by the array of options: shiny patent leather pumps, neon-colored sneakers, and delicate bejeweled sandals. What should she buy? She didn't have a clue, but just knowing she had the choice was exhilarating. She looked down at the clunky metal protrusions poking out from under her pant legs and beamed. For the first time in her life, Jane was buying shoes, because for the first time in her life, Jane had feet.
